There are many ways you can kick-start your adventure, as a young person, parent or adult volunteer. Our volunteers get involved on their terms and not all roles involve working with young people. If you can give a little time (or a lot) to help improve young lives in your community, we’d love to hear from you.
Young People
Ready to begin your adventure? There are five sections you can join, depending on your age. The activities and opportunities vary but what is the same is that each will empower you to make friends, learn skills and try new things.
Fill in the joining form and we’ll get back to you.

Adult Volunteers
Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.
Today, there are nearly 60,000 young people on the waiting list to join us in the UK. We’re more relevant and more needed than ever, but it’s not always easy to keep up with the demand.
That’s where you come in.
The opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible. Think of something you’d like to do and chances are it’s just what we require. Just fill in the simple form to start your volunteering journey…

Parents
Want your child to experience the fun, friendship and adventure of Scouting? You’re not alone. As well as the chance to take part in a range of exciting activities, scouts learn other skills as well. A recent study showed that 87% of young people said that Scouting helped them to contribute to their communities as active citizens.
Theres lot’s of ways you as a parent can be involved and support your child’s development without becoming a leader. For example helping out on a parent rota, being a trustee, driving a minibus, helping with maintenance or many other tasks!

As an Association and locally we are committed to ensuring that Scouting is both enjoyable and safe for everyone who takes part. Information for parents in respect of this and other useful items can be found at https://scouts.org.uk/what-scouts-do/stay-safe/
